This time of year, we look at our class in amazement...they have grown in so many ways: spiritually, academically, socially and physically. It is truly like planting seeds, caring for them and then watching them bloom. We are very excited for our last week. There is still a lot of learning to do and wrapping up of units, we will play some fun games, changes seat and prepare the classroom for summer. Friday afternoon we'll have our graduation ceremony and we hope all can attend.
In Bible this week, we'll finish learning about the Lord's prayer and the meaning behind the words. Our kids now know 'trespassing' is another way of saying sinning. We also know the devil is always at work to tempt us to sin, but God will lead us on a better path.
In reading and writing, we'll talk about homophones. Students will continue to read, write and spell compound words correctly as well as use the Foss rule when spelling. We will write more detail sentences in our expository writing on pond life.
Our last modules in math are on measurement. We'll explore length, height and weight this week.
We'll be putting together our science notebook on Living Things. Students will have time to hold a Bess Beetle if they choose. This is a great way to see insect anatomy up close and live.
In social studies, we'll draw and write about a timeline of our school day. Then we'll look at flags and the meaning behind them.
Mrs. Arnold will have us prepped and ready to sing at graduation. She has done a great job of adapting our songs to fit our personalities.
In art we'll do something special for our dads for Father's Day.
We are excited, proud and a little sad to see this last week of kindergarten. I'm glad we will still have three more days to make memories next week.
Smiling,
Mrs. Luoma
