Being Thankful for Those Who Serve Our Country

Over the long weekend we'll be remembering the sacrifice of those who have served our country. We hope you tell your child stories of the heroes you know and help them understand our freedom comes with a price.

We have a shorter week ahead that is full of learning and fun!

In Bible we're working our way through the Lord's prayer, taking time to understand it in kindergarten language. We're making a sketch of each phrase and assembling our little posters in the shape of a cross on our wall.

Students will read and write using the Foss rule and digraphs. Our new concept is compound words. Students will read and write two syllable compound words in their sentences. We will finish our expository piece on pond life. Daily we'll practice good letter writing, spelling and reviewing red words.

This week we'll finish up our module on counting and writing numbers to 20. Students have learned to decompose numbers into tens and ones as they understand place value.

We are diligently practicing for graduation now, spending extra time perfecting our songs.

In science, we'll start wrapping up our unit on Living Things. Students will observe our control plants and review the pumpkin life cycle. We will play the Bess Beetle life cycle game and sing a song about their anatomy. Students will prepare to finish their science notebooks by making a cover.

We will answer math questions in technology on our iPads.

Students will practice all our reading and math skills during center times.

We're looking forward to a happy week in kindergarten!
