You'll be getting your child's first trimester report card at the end of the week. We're excited to sit down with each of you at parent-teacher conferences to share your student's progress, discus ways to help them get the most out of this year and to answer your questions. I actually like parent-teacher conferences. I know how hard it is to parent and I want to encourage you and thank you for all you do to help your child succeed.
We have a good week of learning ahead before conferences start. In Bible we'll learn more about how Moses led God's people in the wilderness. Our Bethlehem Buddies will be here on Thursday and share about Moses recording the 10 Commandments. In class, we'll teach about the making of the tabernacle. This will be the last week to say our November Bible verse.
In reading and writing we'll focus on the letter Gg and review Dd. Our new red word is: for. Students will practice letters, sounds and reading throughout the week. We'll dictate a spelling test on Friday where students will put all their skills together to write words. We will write about our flag and being thankful. Students will discuss opinions and give reasons for their opinions. We are beginning to focus on good sentence structure as we write, remembering to start each sentence with a capitol letter, use appropriate finger spacing and finish every sentence with an end mark.
Students will finish up our math module on addition and subtraction to 5 this week and take a test to show their skills.
We'll fit in Christmas music practice as often as possible and add a couple of art projects that celebrate the season and Thanksgiving.
In tech lab we'll practice letter games.
Students will review and quiz on our science unit about Weather and Sky. If we have time, we'll dive deeper into understanding lightning and static electricity with some fun experiments.
We're looking forward to cold, fall week of fun and learning.
Mrs. Luoma
