It's October!

It's always fun to begin a new month and look forward to special days coming.  Today we updated our calendar and have Fall Fest on it as a special day.  We hope you are planning on coming and participating in all the fun on October 20th.

Our Monday's start with music from Mrs. P where the class is listening to music and learning to play rhythms.

As we finished the Bible story of Adam and Eve the ending seemed sad, but we combined it with the good news that Jesus died to forgive our sins.  God provides a way to be right with Him through Jesus!  Tomorrow we will start teaching about Joseph and his brothers.  It's a great time to talk about trusting God and being willing to forgive.

In math this week we will finish chapter 2 and move on to learning about patterns and position words.  Position words are so very important in every subject and we will relate the position to reading, writing and science.

After lunch and an active PE time we practiced writing our sight words for this week: to, the.  I Can Read Reader #5 went home today.  Time to practice reading together and sight words!

At story time we recalled the sequence of story event from a humorous book about a duck.

During learning centers we played to learn by painting, building, sorting upper and lower case letters and practicing rapid letter and sound identification.

Looking forward to a full week of learning and fun,

Mrs. Luoma
