We love you, Mom...

We see and hear how special our kindergarten Moms are every day. We know how important you are to your kids. This Friday we'll get to show you a bunch of love at our Mother's Day Picnic. All our students are SO excited to honor their Mothers through poem, song, writing and gifts. We pray all our Moms can come and will be blessed!

In Bible study this week, we'll learn how Peter preached the truth to many and helped them understand the Jesus was the promised Savior of the world. We'll tie that into our monthly Bible verse and discuss how the Holy Spirit gives us the right words to tell others about the Gospel.

We'll be reading and writing using all the digraphs and 'ck', 'kn'. Students are learning to watch for letter patterns in words to help them read fluently. We will review red words and focus on the questions words that begin with 'wh': who, what, why, where, when. Students will use a graphic organizer to prepare for a multi-sentence story about playing with a friend. We're working hard on good sentence structure and editing our own work.

In math we'll finish up the module on 2D shapes and take a test. Next, we'll move into reading and writing two digit numbers, decomposing them into tens and ones.

Our pumpkin plants are growing! Some will be coming home soon so they can be transplanted. This week students will record observations and measure how long their stem has grown. We'll do a cool experiment to see if Bess Beetles prefer the dark or the light. Students will make predictions, then record experiment results for their notebooks.

Mrs. Arnold will help us prepare our poem and song for Friday's Mother's Day Picnic. Next week we'll begin learning songs for graduation.

On the iPads we'll play shape games to help us prepare for our test in math.

We're hoping for a sunny finish to our week for our picnic!

Mrs. Luoma
