Learning is fun!

Learning is fun.  In Kindergarten we learn from play, from doing, from experimenting, from listening, from creating, from games, from songs.  We learn individually, in pairs, in table groups and as a whole class.  I think God would agree...it all is good!

This week in Reading we will cover the letters Nn, Mm and Jj, reviewing their names, sounds and how to write them properly.  Students will learn the parts of a book and details of print by repeating a fun song.

We will focus on careful counting in Math and practice writing, reading and counting numbers 0-5.

Students are touring and interviewing people who work in our building, learning about the BLC/BLS community of workers.  We discuss class, school and playground rules often helping students understand the purpose of rules is to keep us safe and allow everyone to learn and play.

It will be fun to march into our first Science unit on Weather and Sky.  This week students will observe and compare what they see and feel in a daytime sky with a nighttime sky.

In art we are learning to appreciate other people's art and to celebrate our own unique style.

Through it all we are practicing good listening skills and following directions.

Our students are looking forward to showing you more about their learning when you come to Open House on Thursday.  It's like a big Show and Tell!

Thank you for helping your child collect Fall Fest donations.  This money goes toward new improvements and experiences that benefit everyone.

Blessings on your week!

Mrs. Luoma
