Moving Up

This week will feel a little different than the last.  All the classes will spend some time in the next grade learning more about that teacher and what to look forward to next year.  Today both morning and afternoon Pre-K classes 'moved up' to learn a bit about Kindergarten.  Our class did a fine job of hosting our younger neighbors and answering questions.  Tomorrow grades K-7 will 'move-up' for part of the afternoon.  Our class is excited to talk to Ms. Closner and see the new things first grade has to offer.

In Bible we are studying the story of the apostle Paul.  We will discuss how God can help us to change for the better.

It will be a fun week in math as we practice fluent recall of subtraction and addition to five.  Today we studied our subtraction flash cards and then took a timed test for speed.  The class thought going fast was extra fun.  Tomorrow we try to increase our speed and fluency!

We will be studying homophones in phonics.  In writing we have several projects going: our books on the seasons of Kindergarten and daily writing about other subjects and texts.

Students will put their science notebooks together on our unit: Push, Pull, Go.  We will continue to build new systems to accomplish a task, learning to work together with another lab group.  Our class is learning that kind and collaborative discussion builds success when designing.

I will be doing individual assessments on each student this week in preparation for our final report cards.

We are moving up and finishing strong,

Mrs. Luoma
