This week we'll be celebrating our faith-based, excellence in education along with all the other Lutheran schools across the nation. It's a BIG week of fun where we show school spirit and teamwork and I can't wait! I hope you catch the joy and energy at Bethlehem Lutheran.
I'm thankful it looks like the temperatures will warm up a bit and we should be getting outside for recess!
We have several extra chapel family meetings and practices to ready our teams to compete in Indoor Olympics. I hope you're planning on helping or coming to watch the competitions. We'll also be working hard on several class projects to showcase during the week for NLSW and Steampunk Night.
At Bible time, we'll practice our monthly Bible verse and continue learning to sing the Doxology in Spanish. We won't take on a new Bible story, but we will start each day with devotions and a prayer.
In reading and writing we'll spend a week of review. Students will practice reading, spelling and handwriting. We will solve a red word sentence scramble. Everyone will work on using a graphic organizer to write a multi-sentence narrative on snow.
We are practicing addition and subtraction problems to 10 in math. Students will draw models based on a word story and then write and solve a matching equation. At center time and tech time, we'll focus on math practice.
I hope we have time to move further into understanding how forces affect how a ball rolls. Students will rebuild their ramps and measure the distance balls roll using cubes. We are working in pairs and at times color groups. Students are learning to work together as a team where each person has a specific job to perform. This is a great time to grow leadership and communication skills.
Get ready for a wonderful week!
Mrs. Luoma
