This is a short school week for us as teachers are leaving on Wednesday to attend a Lutheran Educators Conference. This is a great time for the BLS staff to become students and learn new strategies to make us better teachers. It's always a good trip full of lots of learning where we return refreshed and excited to try new things in the classroom.
Our chapel will be on Tuesday morning. On Monday we'll be reviewing our Bible verse and doing a daily devotion in class.
We'll put to good use our short week and review all the letters and sounds we've covered. Students will be writing about how to stay safe in severe weather. We'll focus on rhyming words and sharing opinions at story time. Weekly readers will be introduced and practiced in class. We're excited for our students to begin regular reading practice at home where their reading is recorded on a reading log.
In math, we'll begin a module on addition and subtraction to 5. This will be a great foundational chapter that students build on throughout the year.
At music time, students are composing their own compositions using quarter notes and rests. Then the class has fun playing the beat with claps. Our class seems to have a great sense of timing and we hope they'll all be future musicians.
At tech time our students work on various games based on their skills with letters and sounds.
We hope you have something special planned for the days off ahead and enjoy extra family time.
Mrs. Luoma
