We hit December this week and the first snowflakes have fallen. It's great to be back in class with all our friends after the long Thanksgiving break. We're looking forward to a full week of learning and fun. Here's what's coming...
We will finish up the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the book of Daniel and focus on how God is with us and helps us make brave decisions. Next we'll start the Advent season off with the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, parents to Jesus' cousin, John.
In reading this week we will focus on learning the importance of vowel letters and identify the short vowel sound in words. This will give us more tools to sound out words and write words correctly. As we study the book, 'The Snowy Day' students will identify story events and emotions of the main character.
In science we will experiment with evaporation as we review the water cycle. Next we will study how to care for the earth and what we can do at home to keep our planet a healthy place for all.
We will study the different types of measurement in math. This will help us apply skills of measurement and recording to experiments in science.
In art we will make and decorate the room with snowflakes. Students will also be at work on many Christmas gifts for giving this month. We'll look like a room full of busy elves.
You'll hear Christmas music all through the school as we practice for our program and enjoy the carols of this season.
It's going to be busy and fun as we learn together.
Blessings,
Mrs. Luoma
