It's a New Year

It was a great day of new beginnings as we returned to the classroom.  Today we found our new seats, used new pencils, started writing the new date on our papers, and we learned a new character word 'attentive' that began a new table competition.
We began our day recalling the story of the Magi.  Once we finish, we will begin practicing for our chapel play coming up next month.
In reading we reviewed how far we've come with reading and writing skills. The class then showed us excellent writing as we practiced writing our first and last names in the morning.
We practiced multiple math strategies as we counted and compared numbers greater than 10.  We will spend several more practice days refining our skills before the chapter 6 test next week.
After P.E. we defined our new character word and discussed ways to be attentive in our actions and words.
At story time the class enjoyed a sweet story about snow.  Students identified setting changes in the text.
We loved finding new books during our library time and enjoyed a couple of stories about squirrels.  We also began some colorful snowflakes that will decorate our classroom window soon.  I think everyone is hoping for some January snow!
It was delightful to be back with the class after the Christmas break.  Everyone was here, everyone was happy and everyone worked hard today.  Beautiful!
