The Last Full Week of Kindergarten

It's hard to believe how quickly time has gone.  This is our last full week of school, then our students say goodbye to kindergarten and hello to summer fun and first grade!

We'll be busy and happy learning right up to the finish line. This week in Bible, BLC member, Grace MacDuff will visit on Monday to teach us more on how to pray in a simple, balanced way. Then we'll finish up our discussion on what every phrase of the Lord's Prayer means in present day language.

In reading, we'll send home a reader for your practice at home. In class we'll learn what homophones are and enjoy some funny stories about words that sound the same, but mean very different things. We'll explore how word endings help us understand past, present and future. Students will write a book report on a story they hear in class.  We will finish a writing piece about beavers and give our opinion on how they help or hurt an environment.

We will continue to study money in math. Students will learn about coin amounts and dollars this week. The fun comes when we apply our knowledge to 'pay' for items and write equations using a variety of coins to solve for a total.

Students will practice coin sorting in tech lab and playing a game on place value.

We'll practice our songs for graduation daily. On Wednesday, we'll start a new lesson in music learning about compound meters.

Students will discuss how things change over time and make their own timelines to show the passage of time during one school day. We'll study more about time in our last social studies magazine.

In art we'll become super heroes and make a guided drawing in pastels. Students will finish their piece with watercolor paints.

On Friday, we'll finish the week with a special awards assembly and signing yearbooks!

We'll put our heads down and finish strong, taking time to be thankful for how far we've come.
