Time for a Snooze Fest!

This week we will be learning more about living things in science and in reading.  Students will learn about different environments and habitats. We'll check to see if our seeds have germinated, and add to our classroom menagerie of living things by learning and caring for tadpoles and Bess beetles. Even kids that think bugs are creepy crawly will be fascinated with our big, shy beetles. It will be fun to learn what these organisms need in their environments. To accompany our study on living things, we will explore what animals are nocturnal and diurnal. On Thursday, we're having a Snooze Fest and bringing in stuffed animals.  We'll be spending our day learning 'in the dark' and in the day time.  Our animals will spend the night at school and return home on Friday.  Watch out for a big adventure happening with our 8th grade friends on Friday.

At Bible time, we are studying the Easter story and how our new verse fits with the resurrection experience of the disciples. Students are practicing our chapel play for our May 18th chapel.

In reading we will cover the new sight words: from, now, how.  Our new reader is: 'Vin and the Bag'. In phonics we will study the wh and kn sounds to add to our digraph knowledge. Students will be reading for comprehension and writing about plants and animals.

We'll finish up our math module on 3D shapes and move on to understanding position words.  Position words apply to all subjects and are essential in making accurate descriptions.

In tech lab, we'll be supporting our learning in math and reading.

This week in music, we'll make a composition using animal sounds and go on to evaluate a famous piece of music.

I'm excited for a good, short week full of fun and surprises.  It's such a joy to learn with your kids!
