This will be a short and eventful week at school. First we'll be celebrating Valentine's Day on Monday with a fun party at the end of the day. Our Valentine bags are packed with all the cards and treats you brough in last week. Your student will have fun looking through all their treasures when they get home.
Then on Tuesday, it's Day 100! We will be officially 100 days brighter in Kindergarten and only 80 days away from becoming first graders. Miss Martin has decorated our classroom door for a school wide competition. watch for pictures! On Day100 all our subjects focus on the number 100. There will be lots of fun surprises! At the end of the day, we will gather in the gym for an LEST assembly to spotlight the students that will be competing in the LEST school tournament in Tacoma.
LEST is an annual tournament of academic, athletic and artistic competitions between all the other Lutheran schools in our district. Most of our 5th through 8th grade students and their families will be traveling to Tacoma to participate. Many of our teachers serve as coaches for the events.
In Bible this week we'll finish up our list of 100 blessings and begin a story about how Jesus loved children.
In reading we'll take a break from sight words, due to the short week. The reader, 'Ten, Ten, Ten' will come home. We'll practice long vowel rules with vowel 'a' in our writing journals. Students will write about Day 100 for our wall. At story time, we'll focus on Valentine's Day, and Day 100.
We'll be counting to 100 by ones and tens in math, completing our sparkly rockets.
The week will fly by, but it'll be a good one with lots of fun and learning.
Mrs. Luoma
