Let's have a dream...

When we get back to class on Tuesday, we'll be teaching more about Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to history.  We want to encourage all our students to think about how to make the world a better place.  We'll be sharing our dreams in class through writing and a special art project.

This week we'll finish up our story on Jesus staying at the temple in Jerusalem after the Passover holiday.  We'll discuss how Jesus knew He was God's son and was always happy to teach the truth.

Our new math module is about writing numbers 6-10 and counting carefully.  We'll move quickly through it and get ready for much larger numbers as we practice reading two digit numbers and counting to 100.

In reading we begin a new unit that will compare narrative texts.  We'll be learning high level vocabulary, writing to show comprehension and learning about time.  New sights words are: here, where, what. Students will write and use these words in a sentence. In phonics we'll focus on reviewing short 'i' and move on to short 'o' as we practice vowel sounds in our reading.

In tech lab we'll practice vowel sounds and reading on computers, iPads and our OSMO sets.

The plan is to begin a new science kit this week on forces called 'Push, Pull, Go!'  It's a fun unit that teaches us about physics and engineering design.

This week in art, we'll publish our big dreams for making the world a better place with pieces that illustrate our thoughts. We're also completing a cool poster for our Indoor Olympics team.  Every student will add their own bright balloon to our Party Penguins.

We're praying hard that everyone stays well and we can keep learning together at school.  We're trusting God with each day.

Mrs. Luoma
