We Love Christmas Time!

If you need your cup filled with joy, just come into the Kindergarten classroom.  Students are so excited and happy, anticipating Christmas day.  This week we'll be fitting in lots of learning and fun as we prepare for our Christmas program and our final week together before Christmas break.

In Bible, we'll light the third Advent candle for joy and finish up the story of Jesus' birth.  We'll get a start on the Magi and finish their adventure in January.

Students get a break from sight words this week, but we forge ahead with a new reader 'For Me!' and a new reading log.  As we study our anchor text, 'The Snowy Day' we'll use a graphic organizer to write about the events in the story.  In phonics, we'll move into short vowel sounds and make word families using short 'a'.

For our few days in math, we'll review addition and subtraction equations.  We'll be starting a new module when we return in January with a focus on numbers 6-10.

Music practice and performance will be big this week as we practice for the K-8 Christmas performances on Thursday.

In between learning and practice time, we will play, make Christmas cards, enjoy some down time just being together, and finish the week with a festive classroom party.

Wishing you a sweet week, celebrating the season. Take time to catch the joy!

Mrs. Luoma
