Weather is Wonderful

In science our class is learning how many different kinds of weather we have and how weather affects our lives.  We just have to look outside to see how the changing of the seasons means a cooling of temperatures and that affects what we should wear to school.  It's fun to see our students making connections and asking questions as they dive deeper into weather science.

I'm looking forward to a full week of learning and fun in Kindergarten this week!

In Bible we will learn in depth about the plagues God sent on Egypt, as Moses tried to lead God's people to freedom.  We're looking forward to seeing our Bethlehem Buddies on Tuesday and have great small group discussions.

Students will study letter Qq on Monday and take a phonics/writing quiz on Tuesday over letters: Oo, Zz, Cc, and Qq.  Next, we'll practice letter Gg.  Daily we do oral practice on hearing beginning and ending sounds in words and identifying rhyming words.  At story time we will learn to have and share an opinion based on the text.  Later in the week, we'll give a supporting reason for our opinions.  We'll write about pets and give an opinion on the subject.

In tech lab students will play letter games requiring more coordination with the mouse and timing.

In math we'll finish up our module on classifying groups by color, size, shape and number.  We'll take a quiz and move on to module 5 where students will begin practicing basic addition skills.

We've been studying jobs in social studies.  This week we'll learn more about community workers.  We have a special speaker coming in from STCU on Wednesday to teach us how to manage money.

Students will review severe forms of weather and move on to an experiment on why floods happen.  We are continuing to record temperatures in the sun and shade to add to our graph.  Students are beginning to see a pattern which will prove how the sun warms the earth.

On Friday, we will celebrate Fall with a class party at the end of the day.  It's sure to bring lots of smiles!

Enjoy the Fall weather with your family,

Mrs. Luoma
