Fall Fest Memories

It was great to see so many BLS families enjoying the fall weather together at Fall Fest this last Saturday!  I saw lots of smiles, fun competitions and new relationships growing.  All these add up to making a BL family of people united in faith, giving to each other and to the community.

It will feel like a very short week with students at school just Monday and Tuesday. BL teachers will be leaving for an educator conference on the coast to attend professional development workshops.  This is the annual meeting on all the Lutheran educators in the Northwest.  It's a great time of learning for your staff, we will return refreshed and full of new inspiration to apply in our classrooms.

We begin a new Bible story this week on the faith and leadership of Moses.  We will discuss the characteristics of a good leader and how God helps us as we lead.

In reading we will cover letters Cc and Oo, learning how to write and read these sounds.  New sight words are: is, like, have.  Our take home reader is 'Sock Sack'.  At story time we will review characters and setting in a text and the jobs of an author and illustrator in a book.

In math students are learning and practicing new ways to classify and count objects in a mixed group.  This week we'll identify size patterns and continue comparing groups by counting and writing numbers.

We'll have time for library this week and technology lab.  In tech lab students will play math games where they classify and count.

In social studies, we are discussing community jobs and the how these jobs benefit the people living in a community.

It's all about severe weather in science this week.  Students will identify different types of severe weather and why they are dangerous.

You'll have an extra loooong weekend with Wednesday through Friday off.  This gives you time to practice sight words, letters, and sounds.  Remember to read everyday and enjoy learning with your child.

Blessings,

Mrs. Luoma
