We are learning that living things change over time. Plants, insects, people, environments change over time. Change can be good or hard. In Kindergarten we are learning to look at change as part of God's plan. Talk with your child at home about how they have grown and changed in this past year. As we look ahead to Move Up day and graduation it's a great time to embrace change with thankful hearts.
In our study of the Bible this week we will find out the outcome to Peter's miraculous release from prison. We will go on to understand the conversion of Paul as Jesus spoke to him on the road to Damascus. It will be a good time to focus on how God can help any heart to change if they are willing to listen.
We'll continue our study of contractions in reading...there are so many! Students will read and write using contractions. Our new sight words are: part, her, by. Our class will study a new text on neighborhoods and compare it with our last text.
In math we will practice subtraction problems using larger numbers and go on to subtraction races where we try to better our time with rapid recall of subtraction facts.
Students will observe the results of our test pumpkin plants and write about the changes. We will study a research article on how environments can change. Students are learning to highlight important facts and make labeled sketches to show their understanding.
In social studies we will learn more about special symbols and landmarks in America. This week students will take a close look at the Statue of Liberty.
In technology lab we'll add and subtract by playing a fun interactive game.
Our art projects were switched from last week...last week we painted flowers in the Georgia O'Keeffe style. This week we will learn about monochromatic compositions.
On Wednesday, Miss Closner our first grade teacher will visit with our class to answer all their questions about first grade at BLS. She is a wonderful teacher and our students have much to look forward to as they become first graders.
Our class is doing great and right on course!
