We have grown so much this year! Our class has moved from letters, to words, to sentences in their reading and writing. Reading and writing can become a formula unless we stop to understand our reading and make sure our writing is understandable. Remember to stop and ask your child questions about what they read to make sure they are understanding the text. Comprehension is just one layer deeper in to learning.
In our study of the Bible this week we'll finish the story of the conversion of Saul to Paul and discuss how Jesus has the power to change hearts.
In reading we'll learn about syllables in words and identify how many syllables different words contain. Our last set of sight words are: your, all, out. We will read a book on life in a city and answer comprehension questions in our writing. Students will review word endings. We will write our opinion on two books we have read and compared.
This is our last week on subtraction skills in math. Students will work on rapid recall of subtraction fact 0-5, read and solve subtraction word problems and take a final test.
In science we will discuss how living things can change the environment. We'll take a close look at how our Bess Beetles and Pumpkin plants have changed their environments.
We will learn about Washington state native tribal nations in social studies. Our specific focus will be on our neighbors, the Yakima Tribal Nation. Students will see how the Yakima people maintain their cultural heritage by fishing for salmon.
In art this week, we'll study the style of Jackson Pollack and make beautiful paintings.
We'll be practicing reading consonant blends in tech lab on Friday by playing a fun interactive game against the computer.
It's a shorter week and looking to be a hot one. It's time to give thanks for learning and air conditioning.
