Preparing for Easter

We will be telling the Easter story in class this week.  Our Good Friday chapel on Friday may be serious, but we will emphasize the joy of Jesus' resurrection as we get ready to celebrate Easter Sunday.  We hope you can take your family to praise and worship the risen Christ on Easter Sunday.  If you don't have a church home, you are always welcome at Bethlehem.

Our focus in reading will be on the digraph 'sh'.  Students will practice the soft 'sh' sound and apply it to their reading and writing.  We won't cover new sight words this week so it's a great chance to practice any words that your student has been missing on their quizzes.  On Thursday, grades K-2 will all have a Read-In day to focus on literacy and highlight a special author.  Our class will study several books by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.

We will finish up our chapter on geometric figures in math.  Students will practice making 2D and 3D shapes, identify shapes and make larger 2D shapes from smaller ones.

In social studies we will study the difference between goods and services.  Students will learn what goods and services our state is known for and sells.

We will set up our spring science unit by learning that all living things have a unique habitat.  Students will define habitat and list what all living things need to live.

All week long, we'll be busy with Easter projects to give to our friends and take home.  On Friday, we have a surprise Easter egg hunt from our 8th grade reading buddies.

It's sure to be a happy week of learning and Easter fun.

Mrs. Luoma
