We've had some pleasant glimpses of Spring with several warmer, sunny afternoons. There's a new skip in everyone's step at recess. As we hope for more mild weather and the flowers to bloom, we're busy in Kindergarten learning and growing just like watered seeds.
This week we will learn more about the events leading up to Jesus going to the cross. We are studying the woman who poured perfume on Jesus' feet and what He said about her extravagant love. Our class is beginning to prepare to film our chapel lesson that will show in April. We are teaching on using our spiritual gifts to serve others.
In reading we will review all the long and short vowel sounds and how to read them in words. New sight words are: say, this, then. We will study and discuss an expository book on the clothing in different cultures. Students are learning how to write a question and answer it in a full sentence based on a text.
Students will test on chapter 9 in math on how to use time. Then we begin a fun chapter on geometrical figures. Students will learn all about 2D and 3D figures.
In social studies, we will finish up our unit on the Past and Present. We will discuss how many new inventions make our lives easier today.
This will be our last week on the physics unit in science, Push, Pull, Go! We will review our science notebooks to help us prepare for our first written science assessment.
Our art focus this week is on the artist, Keith Haring. Students will use the playful Haring style to make figures that display movement.
We're looking forward to moving with confidence into the last trimester.
Mrs. Luoma
