Grand-Friends Day

This Friday the students at BL will be thinking of their Grandparents and older mentors that make their life special.  We'll be discussing how Jesus wants us to love, honor and learn from our older family members and friends.  We will be making notes to send to our Grandparents or friends to let them know they are loved and valued.  Take time to love and thank your parents, too!

Our class will finish learning about the Good Samaritan and how Jesus wants us to treat those in need.  We will continue our study of Jesus' life and ministry and start learning how Jesus was not only a teacher, but also a healer to those seeking Him.  Our new Bible verse to memorize sets the scene for Easter and the suffering Jesus went through before and on the cross.

Long 'o' is the vowel of the week; students will review long vowel rules and practice reading and writing long 'o' words.  We'll be taking a writing assessment on writing a clear sequence.  We'll study a new informational text on music, learning to answer comprehension questions and defining new vocabulary.  No new sight words this week as the second trimester winds down.  Please review the words we have already covered.

In math we'll finish our chapter on numbers 20-30 and begin a new one on using time.  This is a very practical chapter that helps students understand the many different ways we keep track of time.

Our math chapter compliments our unit in social studies on the past and present.  This week students will discuss how things change and how they stay the same over time.

We will review essential vocabulary in science and invent our own systems that demonstrate force and motions.

I am busy preparing report cards for the second trimester.  This is a big time of thankfulness for all our students have learned.  Our pace and energy is moving us toward first grade work!  I am so proud of our class.
