This week we will explore opinions and why we have them. Students will give their opinions at story time. We'll realize we often give opinions throughout the day, but what's harder is to take the time to give the reasons for your opinion. Harder still is to respect other people's opinions when they differ from our own. What a great subject to approach as the election nears!
We will finish the story of Joseph and his brothers in Bible and go on to learn about Moses and how he served God and helped God's people. Our focus will be on servant leadership.
In phonics and writing we will cover letters Qq, Uu and Ss. We are improving in hearing the beginning sound in words and our writing gets better every week! Our new sight words are: is, have, like.
Students will begin a new chapter in math on position and patterns. This is a chapter that helps us in every subject as position words are common prepositions and patterns are found every where!
In science we are studying severe weather and where it happens in the world. Students will make conclusions about the sun from our temperature graph and go on to design and build shade structures.
We are finishing our study of the jobs people do in our building and moving on to community jobs.
Students will be painting like Van Gogh on Friday as they make sunflower masterpieces.
We're looking forward to a fun week of learning!
Mrs. Luoma
