We will study what good leadership means by learning more about how Moses led God's people away from Egypt and into the Promised Land this week. Students will see that God enables leaders to be strong, courageous and to care for others. We pray God is preparing many future leaders from class. And on the subject of good leaders...this is an important week for students to learn October 31st is not only Halloween it is also Reformation Day. We will explore the famous man, Martin Luther and how his godly leadership reformed the church.
In the language arts we will cover letters b, p, and r. Our phonics quiz will be Thursday this week over the four letters: u, s, b and p. Our new sight words are: my, they, we. Study them daily and have your student read them in any text you read together! We will continue stating our opinions and will write about our favorite color. Students will practice answering comprehension questions from a text.
We will cover many different kinds of patterns in math: in objects, sounds and movements. It's interesting how patterns are all around us in art, music and dance.
In social studies we will finish our interviews with the church staff completing our understanding of the jobs adults do in our building. Students will move on from learning about community jobs to understanding why we need jobs. This will bring us into the study of economics.
We will study how rainbows form in science and why floods happen. Every week students are bringing in great questions about the weather and we'll try to answer them all!
On Friday our art lesson will be about print making and pumpkins. We'll finish the week with a fun Fall party on Friday afternoon.
It's going to be a great, chilly, Fall filled week of learning in Kindergarten!
