In Math this week we will continue to connect addition skills with counting money. This is challenging work that requires understanding coin values, and adding quickly. It's a good introduction for next year and stretches us to think and reason.
As we study the Bible this week, we'll learn more about how to keep our hearts and spirits strong to defend ourselves from the attacks of the devil. Learning the Armor of God is a practical check list of life long spiritual disciplines.
In Reading we will study the new rhyming sight words: about, shout, pout. We will start to learn how to read and write contractions. Our new anchor text is an expository book about cities. Students will use careful listening to recall details from the text and illustrations. Very soon we will go on a virtual trip to a city!
We finish up our writing on the 'Seasons of Kindergarten' by writing about our opinion of the best season of the year. Students will support their opinion with reasoning. Our class is really growing in the area of writing as they learn from home. We are so pleased and know every well written sentence prepares them for more success in first grade.
In Science we will review and wrap our unit on Ladybugs. I will share all the questions students had at the beginning of the unit. It will be fun to see how we all now know the answers.
Art will be an adventure this week as Mrs. DeGraaf teaches how to make beautiful rocks using heat and crayons.
We can see the finish line now for the end of school. My hope is we pick up the pace with determination to finish strong!
We love your kids!
Mrs. Luoma
