We Love Systems!

I discovered that our class loves building systems last week!  As we study forces and motions, our class designed their own system using objects around the house or backyard.  We saw some amazing designs that demonstrated a pull, gravity, a push and friction.  This week in science we'll up the challenge and make our systems a little more complicated.  Who knew forces could be such fun!?

Pastor Andy will be teaching the class about the coming of the Holy Spirit and Peter's sermon that helped people understand that Jesus was the true messiah.

In reading we will study the new sight words: water, been, find.  We'll begin a study on blends and cover 'r' blends this week.  Students will continue to focus on our anchor text; 'Over and Under the Pond'.  We will learn new vocabulary, write answers based on facts from the text and practice making plural nouns.  Students will start a special writing assignment for Mother's Day.  This week we write about why our mom is smart.

We begin a new chapter in math on using time.  Students will learn there are many ways to 'tell time' and practice using them.

Mrs. DeGraaf will be teaching about the painting style of Georgia O'Keefe in the art lesson on Friday.  I know our students will love her big flowers.

We're ready to have a full week of teaching and excited to see what every student will post!
