We're beginning our second week of learning from home. There have been challenges for all, but we are teaming together to make it work. I anticipate this week going smoother as we all settle in. A huge thank you to all the parents who are helping their students watch our videos, practice concepts and post photos and videos. We absolutely love seeing all the work and hearing our students read and explain their thoughts.
This week in Bible we will be preparing for Easter by learning why Jesus died on the cross for us.
In reading we will practice finding and reading words with the 'ing' ending. Our class will continue our study of The Tiny Seed , learning new vocabulary and responding to comprehension questions with our own sentences. Our new sight words for this week are: should, come, some. Students should read reader #27 and additional texts if they are in the AR program.
It's a week of subtraction practice ahead! Students will learn how to use a number line to solve problems, then practice that skill generating their own subtraction problems using dice, cards or dominos. Later in the week we will begin solving subtraction word problems.
In science we will dig deeper into forces and motion and understand how the strength of the force affects the outcome of motion. If our seeds keep on course, we'll be doing an observation of the changes, measuring the changes we see. All our germinating seeds have been planted into soil and are growing happily at my house.
Friday will be another great art lesson from Mrs. DeGraaf. This week students will use their imaginations to make pictures out of a scribble.
We are praying for you every day, confident God will help you in this new adventure. We pray you stay safe and enjoy time with your family.
Mrs. Luoma
