This is the question we're all wondering...we're a little scared and excited. We have a good plan that can be adjusted as we proceed. It will be a change, but we'll make it as parent and student friendly as we can. We haven't done this before, so we'll be learning right along with you. One thing we do know is that God will help us and see us through as we rely on Him.
Today we will focus on helping our student understand the changes and assuring them that this will be different, challenging and fun.
Our chapel play will be rescheduled and put on hold for now. We fully expect to be able to do it after we're back at school in our building. Our focus in our study of God's word will be on a story of Jesus ministry before Easter where He healed a man.
In reading we will finish up digraphs and begin learning about word endings. This week we'll start reading words with the 'ing' ending. Students will hear different stories and practice giving an opinion with reasons to support it.
We will continue using larger numbers in our subtraction practice for math. You should see your student getting more and more confident using this operation.
Our bean seeds are close to germinating. When they do, we will write an observation and learn about the next steps in the plant life cycle. At the same time (while plants grow) we will start a new science unit on physical forces, exploring how pushes and pulls work.
Mrs. DeGraaf will have an art video every Friday for a special project to try at home.
As we adjust to this new kind of learning, we'll add online assignments on SeeSaw and use Zoom for live class meetings and discussions.
We will miss you all, but the most important thing is to keep our families safe. Thank you for trusting us to teach your kids and help them learn.
You are the best,
Mrs. Luoma
