Getting Used to a New Schedule

We are rolling right along as we continue to teach and learn from home.  Change is uncomfortable, but everyone has stepped up to adjust and make the best of our unusual situation.  It's delightful to see students and parents engaged and sharing their learning from home.  Let's stay strong and take on another week!

In Bible this week we will focus on the Easter story and the people who encountered Jesus right after He rose from the grave.  We will start learning our April Bible verse about the joy of being a part of God's family.

Students will study the word ending 'ed' and be able to identify the base word.  We will be comparing two texts about seeds.  Students will write about which book they liked best and give two reasons for their opinion.  We will study new vocabulary and work on how to answer questions from a text in a complete sentence.

We will perfect our subtraction skills in number problems, word problems and fluent recall this week.  We'll try our first test from home over our chapter on Friday.

In science we are keeping track of our bean plant growth with careful observations as it moves through the plant life cycle.  At the same time, we are learning more and more about forces and motion.  This week we will learn about forces in nature like the wind, water and gravity.  Students are doing  great work sending in videos demonstrating their learning.

On Friday, Mrs. DeGraaf will show us how to do art from home and explain an exciting project challenge for everyone while school is closed.

Mrs. DeGraaf and I sure do miss being together with our class.  Your daily posts and videos are a bright spot to our days.  Keep up the fine work! Trust in the Lord and be safe.

Mrs. Luoma
