It's Our Last Trimester!

The second trimester is ending and our last trimester is beginning in the school year.  We will be starting many new things to get our class ready for first grade.  Our expectations will be increasing and we will be challenging each student to become more independent in their learning.  It's an exciting time!

Some of the changes beginning this week are: a weekly information sheet for parents and students to read and use as a reference to prepare for the week, daily behavior reports from our new clip chart system and a challenge to learn to tie shoes.

Our class will be diligently practicing for our chapel play on forgiveness this week.  Our chapel is March 18th, you won't want to miss it.  If your student brought a script home, we appreciate your support from home helping your child to memorize their parts.

In reading this week we will add 'wh' and 'kn' to our study of digraphs.  Students will begin learning more about our four seasons through our reading text as we begin a new unit.  Our writing will focus on giving an opinion and supporting it with a reason.

We are just getting going in math with our chapter on subtraction.  This week students will be carefully subtracting using larger and larger numbers.

In science we have learned about the anatomy of a seed.  We will start our own bean seeds, make observations and hope they germinate soon.

Thank you for all you do at home to love and support your child's learning!
