Valentines

We'll be celebrating Valentine's Day a little early in Kindergarten.  Our class is good at expressing affection all year long, so we especially love Valentine's Day.  It's a great chance to let people know we love and appreciate them.

On this short week we'll get to see many of our 5th-8th graders perform as they prepare for LEST in Portland on Thursday through Saturday.  This Lutheran school tournament brings schools like ours from many different states together to compete in academics, sports and the arts.  Our Kindergarten students can look forward to this in a few years!

In reading this week we'll wrap up our short and long vowel unit.  Students will use a graphic organizer to organize information for a writing assessment on sequence writing.  We are enjoying reading through the WA State Children's Award nominee books; there are so many good ones!

We will continue challenging ourselves with addition in math.  This week we will learn about vertical addition problems and keep practicing for accuracy. Students will finish up some of the 100's projects we began on Day 100.  At learning center time we will count by ones and tens.

We hope you can think of 100 ways to be thankful,

Mrs. Luoma
