It's always exciting to begin new things. Our second trimester is ending and our third is beginning. Today we started fresh with a new seating arrangement. Congratulations to Green Table for winning the competition for attentiveness. It was a very close contest, with all the other tables coming in just a few points short. This time around our table competition focus will be on showing how to care for others and care about being successful at school.
Tomorrow we will add a clip chart to our classroom management system. This will help students adapt easily into first grade where Ms. Closner uses the same system. It will give parents and students daily feedback about behavior at school. This affirms and rewards those making good choices and gives those who need to improve a new incentive to use self control.
In Bible this week we will study how Jesus called His disciples, and how we can be better disciples of Jesus today. We'll study some of the stories Jesus taught, like the Good Samaritan. This will help us to understand the character Jesus wants to see in His followers.
We began our chapter on using time in math today. This unit will cover several practical ways to keep track of time.
In reading we will finish up our unit on long vowels with a lot of reading practice applying the rules we have studied thus far. We will also begin unit 5 in our reading curriculum where the focus will be on forming and defending our own opinions.
This new trimester will be full of surprises and challenges. The third trimester is a wonderful time where we see our Kindergarten class transform into confident and independent first graders.
We love watching these kids learn!
Mrs. Luoma
