We look at our class now and sometimes stand in wonder...they have grown into able and independent writers, they read, they love to think and make connections, they step up to challenges and they strive to end each day well. They have come a long way and we see the bright and eager first graders they will soon become emerging. It is one of the most satisfying aspects of teaching.
Today we began with a devotion about always having hope in the future, even if today is difficult. Jesus wants us to be people of hope and lean on His promises each day. We had a great chapel play practice in preparation for our turn at teaching next Wednesday.
In reading we wrote to respond to a part of an informational text on plant patterns. We also learned that some words use an 'es' on the end when talking about more than one.
We combined math with science again as we learned and discussed how and why we measure weight. The class recorded weights of several objects using a kitchen scale.
After lunch we worked on our timeline of seasons writing project practicing rereading our work and checking for good sentence structure. Next we had a fun science review to prepare for the test on ladybugs tomorrow. At story time we heard an expository text about gravity and recalled facts from the text. The class connected gravity as a force that gives us weight on earth.
In learning centers we played a number bingo game, review blends with a bean bag toss, build great structures and designed flowers from torn paper.
Day well done, Kindergarten!
