Engineers need to understand materials

We recently began a science unit on understanding different materials and their properties.  This week we have been testing objects and recording our data on the ability to sink or float in water.  We are learning to make predictions before testing based on prior knowledge and to organize our data.  Soon we will use our findings to make boats and have a contest to see what boats can carry the most weight.
At Bible time we finished learning about Joseph and his brothers.  It was a great time to talk about forgiveness and how God can work through the hard circumstances in our life and bring good.
We learned more about patterns in Math and practiced movement patterns today.  Patterns truly are all around us.
After lunch we practiced finding sight words in our 6th reader and read together as a group.
At story time the class identified different settings from a Pete the Cat book.  We're becoming pros at identifying  story elements.
Everyone got to check out a new library book at the BLS library and we played math games in Technology labs on the computers.
Full day...good day!
