Listening for syllables in words

Today our big challenge was listening for the syllables in words.  We worked on it this morning and had some trouble, but after a little re-teaching and review the class was doing great.  I'm so thankful for this bright group that keeps trying even when they have trouble at first.
At Bible time we heard the finish to Peter's sermon.  We had a great discussion on repentance and baptism.
Mr. Haynes let us have a make-up P.E. class during our regular math time so the class could practice picnic games.
After lunch we had a Spanish lesson and then learned more about how to write dialog.  Mrs. DeGraaf has been sharing pictures of a Robin family that live in a tree in her yard.  Today we got to see the babies with their mouths open.  After writing we watched a video of how Robin's develop from egg to first flight.
At story time we heard a story about an Emu living at a zoo; we practiced listening for the number of syllables in words from the text.  We finished the day playing a syllable sorting game.

Chalk up another good day of learning and fun.
