Confident Readers

It's a joy to see each student becoming a confident reader.  For most of the year our 8th grade reading buddies have read to us, now when they come down we are reading confidently to them.  Wow.  Even the 8th graders are amazed.  Learning is like that, you work really hard for a long time and then all the pieces come together.
We began our day learning more about Peter's sermon and how the people reacted when they realized that Jesus really was the promised Savior.  It reminded us that Jesus loves and forgives even when we are confused and make mistakes.
In reading we learned the 'ice' and 'ight' ending to words.  Then we spent time writing in our journals and applying what we learned.
The class organized data from a garden problem in math and worked on patterns.
At story time we asked and answered questions about a book on all the different kinds of shoes in the world.
For art we learned about the artist Jackson Pollack.  We made abstract paintings using strings and that allowed multiple interpretations.
In learning centers we finished a writing project, read, played iPad games and created with Legos.
Great work, Kindergarten!
