Are we writing a lot? Yes! As we learn and review our letters, it's just as important to learn how to write them well. Kindergarten students are expected to become proficient writers quickly. For most of our students, good writing is one of their biggest challenges. Everyday we are learning to focus and work hard at writing well for about 5-7 minutes. If your child has writing homework, try that at home and expect them to do their best for a short time and then take a break.
This morning we heard a good message from Pastor Mark about keeping God in the center of our busy lives. At story time the class identified rhyming words. We practiced name writing in the morning.
We took a different (and better) math test over chapter one. The class is beginning to learn how to take a test and use their best listening skills. After lunch we practiced finding upper an lower case letters. For social studies we are learning about our school building and the people who have different jobs here. We had a great presentation from our custodian and the class now understands the important work he does and how we can help make our room and school nicer by cleaning up our messes. Our day ended with learning centers where the class practiced math skills, letter skills and learned how to use our classroom iPads.
It was a good, full day of learning; your kids are doing great!
