Working like we're going to first grade

We are focusing on our new character word, 'responsibility' everyday in class.  That means remembering our jobs, managing our materials and working hard to do our best.  All this will add up to finishing the year strong and well prepared for first grade.  Encourage your child to be responsible at home and expect the best from them.
This morning we began our day at chapel and enjoyed hearing how our 'Good Shepherd' cares for each of us, even when we wander and get lost.  We came back to class and wrote in our journals about our spring break experiences.  Today in math we had our last challenge at solving subtraction word problems.  Our story was about a late bloomer today and featured dialog.  We had a good discussion on how we were all in the process of blooming.  In reading we identified words that had a 'th' or 't' sound at the beginning.  We solved problems from dominoes, played a sight word game, had a bean bag toss and wrote notes in learning centers.

Come by and meet our new class pets sometime!  The class is showing responsibility by taking good care of them.

Blessings,

Mrs. Luoma
