We have been learning what symmetry means in class. Yesterday we had a building challenge with our 8th grade friends to build a biggest symmetrical house out of blocks. We saw some creative designs and all the Kindergarten students were able to show us the line of symmetry on their building. Likewise we are discovering that God designs many of His creations with symmetry: planets, ladybugs, butterflies... so many things.
This morning we heard from a missionary couple headed for Haiti. It was interesting to hear how some cultures mix Christianity with other superstitions and they need to hear the truth to understand the contradictions. After chapel we wrote notes to our old friend Gavin and wrote in our writing journals. In math we compared 2D and 3D shapes. After lunch the class heard a great story about shapes and we worked on identifying words with the 'sh' digraph. At learning centers we counted, sorted words, made pictures of ourselves and made a ladybug with symmetrical spots. It's great to see the kids finishing strong each day.
