We practiced using our olfactory bulbs today as we smelled mystery items from my kitchen. The class loved guessing the scents and had strong opinions on if they smelled good or not.
In Bible time we heard more about the story of the Good Samaritan and how God wants us to help others when we can. We finished the week covering the vowel 'a' in the short and long form. It's been a hard concept, but I'm confident it will get easier as we study each vowel. In math we put numbers in order; the class is getting more and more comfortable with numbers 10-20. At story time we heard a funny story about monsters being afraid of bubbles and identified picture details. We wrote sentences about our Indoor Olympic experience. Mrs. DeGraaf had a great art project that tied into MLK Jr., and his 'I have a dream' speech. The class drew and painted pictures of a world where everyone is valued. Come to the Fine Arts night next Thursday to see them on display in the hallway gallery. At the end of the day we drew, smelled, counted and read in small groups.
It's been a big week of learning. Thank you for helping your child at home. This is a bright and beautiful class!
