We are diligently getting materials and our classroom ready for you to start school! We are excited to meet all our new families and their students. Every year, God is faithful to bring just the right group of people together to form a wonderful class. Mrs. DeGraaf and I can't wait to get to know you!
Here are some helpful hints on how you and your child can be ready for the first day of Kindergarten:
- 8.16.21...Attend the BLS family orientation from 5:30-5:45, move outside to sign up for a Kindergarten classroom visit and get important information at our table. From there you are free to stay and socialize, play on the playground and picnic if you choose. If you can't attend the back to school night on the 16th, please email me right away to schedule a classroom visit.
- Start collecting your child's school supplies: please donate one large box of Kleenex and 4 containers of anti-bacterial wipes to our classroom.. All other school supplies are purchased by the classroom teachers. Your student will need their own backpack (standard size, non-rolling), a water bottle with a no spill top, a lunch box, gym shoes (velcro, not lace up), head phones. Gym shoes and headphones will stay at school and be returned to you at the end of the school year. Please label everything with your child's name!
- Practical skills to work on at home: independence with managing bathroom needs, taking their shoes on and off, zipping jackets, buttoning, putting a face mask on and off independently, opening baggies and containers they will bring in their lunch box.
- Academic skills to practice: review letters and sounds, practice writing their first name.
