We're Beginning to Look a Lot Like a Classroom!

My we have come a long ways in just eight days.  Students are beginning to show us they can remember and follow our procedures.  We are settling into good routines.  Everyone is relaxing into respectful learning.  With each step of progress, we can move a little faster and accomplish a little more each day.  Mrs. DeGraaf and I could't be happier with this group.

What will week three bring?  Our class will continue to practice using their desks and managing their materials appropriately.

At Bible time we will continue learning about the Creation story, spending time to praise God for His amazing plan in building our world.

In Writing we'll practice slant lines and launch into printing letters Ll, Tt and Ii correctly.  In conjunction with writing those letters, we will focus on their sounds.  At story time we'll expand our knowledge of characters and use descriptive words to describe characters in a text.

Students will sort using multiple attributes in Math this week.  We'll compare groups and understand what more than, less than and the same means.

In Social Studies students will learn what it means to be a good citizen at school.  We will practice good citizenship as we apply our classroom rules.

Students will learn what we measure when we describe the weather in Science.  We will talk about different kinds of weather, daily weather and begin recording daily temperatures in the sun and the shade (once the smoke clears).

Our Technology class time will be split between Wednesdays and Fridays near the end of the day.  We don't have a class set of iPads, but we can get half our students on them at a time.  This week we will learn how to take care of our iPads, use a stylus and practice handwriting on a fun app.

We are enjoying getting to know each student and happy to see they are adjusting well to school.  There's nothing more rewarding than learning with your kids!
