Our class is studying several expository books this unit in reading and learning to understand the main topic and details of a text. Today they heard about history and what it was like to be a child when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was active in social change. We had some great questions and the class was amazed that their Grandparents were alive at that time in history. Perhaps it will make for a good conversation starter at Grand-Friends Day tomorrow.
We began our day with prayer this morning and lifted up our families to the Lord. In reading we worked more on blends; today it was 'r' blends. Students read in small groups and played reading games.
We subtracted in math from nine and worked more on checking our work.
The class was very excited to earn table points with the start of a science quiz on weather. We have many weather experts in class now. I'm please to know many students check the weather conditions with their parents each day so they will know how to dress for school.
At learning centers we played a subtraction game, built and sculpted and painted. It was a busy and fun way to end the day.
Blessings on your parenting,
Mrs. Luoma
