Working on blends

In reading today we worked in table teams to write words beginning with 'l' blends.  We had the challenge of everyone needing to participate and helping others if they asked for it.  We learn about academics, but to be truly successful we need to know how to work  well on a team and it begins in Kindergarten.
At Bible time we heard how the good Samaritan chose to stop and help an injured man.  Our focus this week is learning how to live from the stories Jesus told.
We practiced correcting sentences in writing.  In math our focus was on careful listening and checking our own work as we subtracted.  After lunch we reviewed vocabulary in the science of severe weather, preparing for our quiz this week.  At story time we studied the main topic and details in an expository book on big cats.
We enjoyed time in the library and technology lab focusing on reading.  In the library we listened to a narrative story about a lion and compared it to the expository book we studied earlier...compare, contrast, connect...all good skills for young learners.

Read a good expository book with your child at home and have them tell you about the main topic and details.

Thank you for all you do to help your child succeed in school!
