Growing takes patience

Every process takes time.
Today we prepared bean seeds to germinate.  Each student will try to nurture their seeds all the way around the plant life cycle and come up with a second generation of seeds.  We recorded our initial observations and discussed the controls we needed to prove seeds need water and sunlight to germinate.  This is true science, but it is not fast.  Through the process we are learning the planning, testing and patience it takes to complete an experiment.
This morning we learned about the different types of king people thought Jesus was as He entered Jerusalem.  We were glad Jesus was servant king and came to serve and save man.
The class finished writing pieces on the opinions of their 8th grade friends after chapel.
In math we are using two dimensional shapes to build new shapes, and practicing how to define geometric shapes.  It's a break from numbers and fun to do!
After lunch we reviewed part of our reading story and wrote sentences in response to the text.  We are building our vocabulary everyday with new high level words.
At story time we practiced giving our opinions about the characters in a funny book about a fly.
Learning center time had us busy with a sight word game, finding shamrocks, building with shapes and refining our writing or practicing skills on the iPads.  We are increasing our expectations in writing and require students to finish in class everyday.  Students are learning it's better to work hard during writing than spend learning center time fixing their work.  That's all part of growing and taking on a little more personal responsibility.  All a process in our life cycle.

Be thankful and patience with your process,

Mrs. Luoma
