Today we began a new science unit on plants and the class drew and wrote down what they already knew about a plant life cycle.  We always consider what is already known and what new learning needs to take place.  Student input on prior knowledge drives instruction.
Our morning began after Spanish and we worked on reading and sentence structure by building a sentence and then writing it clearly.  Remembering sentence structure takes a lot of practice.
In math we began the first of a set of subtraction word problems.  The class took to them quickly and most finished early and could try the challenge question.
After lunch and PE we learned more about Zaccheus and discussed how Jesus loves everyone, including people who make mistakes.  We all agreed that it was good news!
We heard a funny story today and began learning about forming opinions.  It's a good lesson to learn that people have different opinions for different reasons and we can respect those we with whom we disagree.
At the end of the day we had learning on technology in the classroom by playing leveled math and reading games.  The kids love using our iPads and OSMO games.
Chalk this day up to a good day of learning and fun,
Mrs. Luoma
