Thinking of others

At a Lutheran school we often ask students to pray for, encourage and serve others.  Our model is Jesus and we want to help develop compassionate and serving hearts.  Yesterday, we talked about needs in our own community and wrote uplifting notes to go out with Meals on Wheels meals.  Today we talked about honoring Jesus in our families and making Him the heart of our home.  Students wrote a prayer asking Jesus to help their family grow in faith.
At Bible time the class is learning how much Jesus valued children and used their simple faith as an example for adults.
This week we focused on identifying long and short vowels in words; we're on the vowel 'i' right now.
In math we practiced addition sentences, and talked about strategies to help check our work.
The class practiced relay games in PE in preparation for Indoor Olympics tomorrow!
We heard a cool story about plants at reading time and explored new vocabulary.
At learning centers we practiced reading, building, played a math game and colored some Keith Haring pictures.

We're looking forward to seeing you at Open House tonight!
