Starting off right in the new year!

Our class had a fine start to 2018 today.  In fact we began several new things:  we will be writing the date on all our papers now, we are using standard sized pencils and erasing mistakes.  Everyone was excited to have more responsibility.  That's a great sign of maturity and growth!
We began the day in chapel where Pastor Andy taught us how God is always with us and we are never alone.  After chapel we practiced writing with our new pencils.  Now we will practice our last names, too!
In math we are covering numbers above twenty, learning to count by tens and ones.  It's an essential skill for students to understand place value starting in Kindergarten and every year after.
We heard a story on making new year's resolutions at story time and compared characters in the story.  The class got a new reader to take home and had time to find sight words and practice reading.  In science we learned more about water, it's three forms and how they relate to weather.
At the end of the day we learned through play by playing letter games, building and making snowflakes.

Well done, Kindergarten...we see first graders emerging!
