Does it rhyme?

One of our focus points this week is learning to identify rhyming words.  For some students it is easy to hear rhymes and for others it's a challenge.  Practice listening for rhymes at home!
This week we start the story of Zachariah and Elizabeth at Bible time.  It's often new to students to learn about the miraculous birth of Jesus' cousin, John.
Our new character word for this table competition is 'kindness'.  The class has been working on defining the word and making specific goals to use kindness at school.
In math we are taking on numbers 11-20 and learning how to use a ten frame to help with quick and accurate counting.
After lunch we heard a funny rhyming story about a goose on the loose and listened for rhyming words in the text.
We read through this week's 'I Can Read Reader' and learned how to buddy read.
In science we are completing a poster on the forces of pushes and pulls using photos to describe the action.
At the end of the day we found new books at the library and practiced rhyming on a computer game in the technology lab.
We're adjusting to our new seating arrangement and learning to work as teams to earn points.  The class earned their last classroom bear today and will have a special movie tomorrow to end the day!

We are so proud of how far we've come,

Mrs. Luoma
